From Photograph to Portrait
As you can see, taking a photograph is a simple process that may only take a few minutes.
How does the Commission process work?
- Tell us about your idea via the 'Contact Us' page. You will need to have an idea of the size of the painting you would like, whether you want a block canvas (typically not framed), or a thin-edged canvas which can be framed upon completion. Frames can be chosen and added at an extra cost if you wish. This will be something that you will choose once the painting is complete.
- There are three ways we can go about creating your idea.
-You will require us to come and take a photograph(s) to work from, whether it be a portrait or even a picture of your pet!
- Send us a picture you have already taken to work from. This is fine, but often pictures may not be in the best light, or the best quality to work from, and because of this then the quality of the finished product can not be its best. If this is the case we may have to resort to the first option.
- You have seen an existing painting(s) that you would like Chris to take inspiration from in order to create a new painting (which is the case for some of the studies on this web site - a few are famous paintings and you may recognise them from other well known artists). If you are attracted to a particular style of painting, we can adopt this style for your own painting. - At this point, a quote will be given, and you will then be required to pay a deposit before the start of the painting process.
- The painting process will begin and can take from two to five weeks. However, this can be longer if there is a queue. You will be contacted along the journey to make sure that you are satisfied that the painting is going in the right direction. This is a good way of ensuring you are happy throughout the process.
- You will be shown the finished product, to which you can comment on any minor details that you would like changing, or small adjustments made.
- The painting can then be delivered to you with full payment.
The overall commission process is actually very simple, and it is an enjoyable journey for both parties on going from an idea to the finished product! We can guide you through the process and explain each step as we reach it, ensuring that you are in control and up to date with what is going on.
