ABOUT
Having visited Stately Homes when I was younger, I was fascinated by the art collections, particularly the family portraits. At the age of 18, I was determined to learn to paint. I studied the works of seventeenth century painters like Sir Anthony Van Dyck, Sir Peter Lely and Rembrandt, and began to paint and develop my own styles based on these old masters.
I have explored a range of styles and genre, and by doing so expanding my own techniques. I hope you get the feeling for this transformation when looking through this web site, and I hope you can see the variety of my work spanning almost thirty years. Since you are here, I also hope that you get as much enjoyment from looking at these paintings as I have had painting them. It has been, and still is, truly a labour of love!
My abiding passion though, has been to make replica copies of ‘old master’ portraits. Many people aspire to owning an ‘old master’ painting, but few of us have millions to spend. Here however is the next best thing. A hand painted faithful copy, which will add elegance and sophistication to any room.
I have built up a reputation, and have a wide customer base. Many customers are collectors who make multiple purchases. You can see some of these copies side by side with the originals on the 'Master Copies' page.

Green Man Gallery Art Exhibition - 'Rural Serenity'
The 'Rural Serenity' Exhibition took place at The Green Man Gallery, Buxton during February 2019, and featured some of my landscape paintings. The aim of this exhibition was to showcase the diversity of the English countryside. The exhibition was a success, with many favorable and positive comments from visitors to the gallery.
You will see all of these acrylic canvas paintings in the Gallery section of this website. Some of these paintings are still for sale. If you would like information on whether a particular painting is for sale, you can find out by filling the form on the 'Contact Us' page. .
Chris Pickstock Art - Tontine Square Art Gallery (Temporary Pop Up Gallery)
The image below shows Chris's recent art exhibition. This time, a wider range of paintings were on display. Included in the gallery was also a selection of oil canvas paintings, with a wide range of portrait paintings too. This was a 'pop-up gallery' and was open for seven weeks in total.
There were 25 paintings on display, from my acrylic landscapes on canvas, to oil portraits.
Having a solo exhibition was extremely rewarding. Communicating with the public and hearing their views and opinions has been a fascinating journey.
